"Cave" depicts an early human family gathering together for warmth and shelter among the majesty of nature. Granite and marble-esque outcroppings add drama and a sense of ornament to the landscape. The figures are far away, non-specific people, presumably enjoying each others' company. Water flows and fire burns in this prehistoric snapshot of our species' life in ancient harmony.

This original woodcut print is drawn, carved and printed entirely by hand. I draw directly onto ¾” birch plywood, then carve the negative space around the lines of the drawing using sharp, hand-held knives and chisels. Ink is rolled onto the carved block and printed onto paper through a press. Every color in the print is also printed from a hand-carved block of wood.
